ac3 was founded in 2000 with seed funding from the NSW State Government and 8 NSW-based Universities – Sydney, New South Wales, UTS, Macquarie, Wollongong, Newcastle, Charles Sturt, and Western Sydney.

The NSW State Government has 57% equity, with the 8 Universities collectively holding the remainder.

ac3 is located at the heritage listed Australian Technology Park, on the fringe of the Sydney CBD.

ac3 is a private company, limited by shares.  ABN 27 095 046 923.
