Who is CREST?
Established in 2006, CREST is an international, not-for-profit membership body for the cyber security industry, with a network of 300 member companies operating in dozens of countries around the world.
CREST aims to ‘increase professionalism in the security testing industry’ and require their members to provide consistent standards of service delivered across ‘operating procedures and standards, personal security and development, approach to testing and response and data security’, proven by undergoing a rigorous quality assurance process.
CREST accreditation for penetration testing focuses on the below key areas:
- Preparation and scope
- Assignment execution
- Post technical delivery
- Asset/information/document storage, retention and destruction
