"Hi, my name is Greg Cockburn, and I am the Head of Hyperscale Cloud here at AC3.

The Reliability pillar of the AWS Well-Architected Framework focuses on workloads performing their intended functions and how to cover quickly from failure to meet demands.

Key topics include: distributed system design, recovery planning and adopting to changing requirements.

In this pillar, organisations should look at foundations, workload architecture, change management and failure management.

Common gaps we see when performing reviews include no business continuity planning and human-centred recovery processes.

My quick tip for you is to focus on using automated recovery processes, leaving operational teams to focus on more value-adds for the business, and to understand your business and compliance requirements for business continuity.

Remember to start small and build over time and practise recovery scenarios.
