Benoit Hamet brings over 20 years’ experience to his role as a Solutions Architect at AC3. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience when it comes to his approach to tech, and is a proud Microsoft MVP.
Born and bred in France, Benoit’s career brought him to Australia a decade ago. For the last three years he’s been working with AC3, and it’s his love of problem solving that keeps him passionate about his job every day.
Working with the team and in a fast-paced world
“I’m designing solutions for customers. I get to do that every day.” says Benoit. “There is so much knowledge transfer in this role, and I get to problem solve with my team. The solutions we provide are so much more than just from me as the Solutions Architect, but from the wider team. We ask questions, share information, and then give solutions.”
Benoit’s approach isn’t always about providing solutions to real- time problems, but it’s about thinking two steps ahead. “Tech is so fast moving. What we were doing last year, last week, anything, that changes. Especially with the cloud. It’s so fast moving that customers can’t keep up, and that’s what we are here for. It’s never the same, which is exciting.”
The challenges faced
There’s a few things that Benoit sees as challenging within his role, and the pandemic was a driving force behind some of them.
“When the world shut down and everyone started working from home, so many companies were not prepared,” Benoit recalls.
Benoit’s role shifted during this time as more and more companies depended on remote working, resulting in more channels being opened up to data and security breaches.
“You’re potentially losing control of some of your devices. You’re setting yourself up with more channels that could potentially be breached by outsiders,” says Benoit.
However, this was Benoit’s time to use the knowledge gained throughout his career, as he has always been interested in data and cyber security.
“I have been working for 20 plus years, but for 15 of them, I’ve been focused on security. It’s about protecting you.” he says about his passion for security. “Sometimes the general population does not understand the importance of cyber security, but I love being able to stop a bad thing from happening. It’s such an important part of my role, and I like educating people on the importance of having secure networks and storage.”
Microsoft MVP
Benoit’s knowledge and dedication has earned him the accolade of being named a Microsoft MVP. MVPs are recognised as being tech experts who are passionate about sharing their knowledge within the community. Those recognised with the title have a deep knowledge of Microsoft, its products, platforms and services as well as being adept at providing solutions to real world problems. The global community of Microsoft MVPs is made up of over 4000 tech experts and community leaders.
Benoit’s recognition as a Microsoft MVP is a testament to his passion in information sharing, education and problem solving. He modestly accepts the title, saying that he joined the program not to gain MVP status, but instead to communicate with the broader community.
“Interaction is important to me. That’s why I joined the program. To have better solutions, better technology, and use my personal experience to share that information."
